Visit of Dutch Minister for Agriculture
On 16 June 2016, the Dutch Minister for Agriculture; Mr. Martijn van Dam will be on an economic mission to Tanzania.
On 16 June 2016, the Dutch Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Martijn van Dam will be on an economic mission to Tanzania. The visit of Minister Van Dam aims to strengthen the long-standing bilateral relations between The Netherlands and Tanzania on trade and investment through sharing of knowledge and innovation. The Minister will be accompanied by a high level business delegation active in the potato sector in The Netherlands.
Minister Van Dam will hold a bilateral meeting with his Tanzania’s counterpart the Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, in Arusha on the recent developments in the agriculture sector. The meeting will include the signing of an Agreement on potato seed importation requirements and also signing of SAGCOT partnership. In the Agreement, The Netherlands government intends to offer capacity building for Tanzanian institutions active in the potato sector. Moreover, he will launch the potato trade mission.
After the signing ceremony, The Netherland’s Agriculture Minister and his delegation are scheduled to visit seed and flower cuttings companies which are based in Arusha and Kilimanjaro regions. The following day, the potato business delegation will have a five-day visit to the SAGCOT region (Mbeya, Njombe and Iringa) from 17-21 June 2016.
